Township Meeting Minutes – January 2024

ST. MATHIAS TOWNSHIP

REGULAR BOARD MEETING

ST. MATHIAS PARK AND RECREATION CENTER

January 2, 2024 7 p.m.

Board Members Present:Carrie Allord, Jim Guida, Brion Fornshell, and Cassey Veith

Pledge of Allegiance was omitted due to overlap with St. Mathias Park and recreation monthly meeting.

General minutes for December minutes were provided in google docs. Carrie motioned to approve minutes; Jim seconded. All were in favor, and the motion carried. 

Treasurer’s report as of December 31, 2023, there was $351,862.16 in the bank, including the CD’s. Claims were provided in google docs and copies to sign during the meeting. The claims received by the Supervisors as the following: Dave Keehr- road maintenance; MN Association of Township- Dues; MATIT- Premium; IRS- quarterly taxes; Carrie Allord- payroll; Jim Guida- payroll; Mark Malinowski- payroll; Brion Fornshell- payroll; and Cassey Veith- payroll. Carrie motioned to approve claims; Jim seconded. All were in favor, and the motion carried. 

Carrie motioned to approve to increase mileage to the 2024 IRS standard rate of 67 cents a mile, Jim seconded. All were in favor , and motion carried.  

Discussing ESST(earned sick and safe time) law, MAT had no directive and the Treasurer will ask MAT if a resolution would be needed to allow ESST for the town board.  

Supervisor Jim reached out to the MAT attorney about Jason Hinnenkamp’s request. The MAT attorney did not recommend covering damages or purchasing trees. He offered to recommend a land attorney if the resident was not satisfied with the outcome and it goes in the direction of the court system. Supervisor Jim tabled the discussion for a later date. 

Carrie motioned to adjourn the meeting at 07:32 p.m, Jim seconded. All were in favor, and the meeting was adjourned.
