Township Meeting Minutes – June 2023

ST. MATHIAS TOWNSHIP

REGULAR BOARD MEETING

ST. MATHIAS PARK AND RECREATION CENTER

June 5, 2023 7 p.m.

Board Members Present:Jim Guida, Mark Malinowski, Carrie Allord, Brion Fornshell, and Cassey Veith

The meeting was called to order by the chairman with the Pledge of Allegiance.

General minutes for May 2023 minutes were provided in google docs. Carrie motioned to approve minutes; Jim seconded. All were in favor, and the motion carried. 

Treasurer’s report as of May 31, 2023, there was $416,444.93 in the bank, including the CD’s. Jim motioned to approve the Treasurer’s report; Carrie seconded. All were in favor, and the motion carried. 

Claims were provided in google docs and copies to sign during the meeting. The claims received by the Supervisors as the following: Dave Keehr- road maintenance; Mark Eckelman- cemetery mowing; Nelson Sanitation- townhall portable.  Carrie motioned to approve the claims, and Jim seconded. All were in favor, and the motion carried. 

Supervisor Jim will create a map showing areas needing brushing and spraying for the Carr to complete this Fall. Township will brush first and spray next. 

Tabled 60th gravel cost split with Crow Wing Township. Crow Wing has not given the itemized cost due to the invoice containing other roads in their township they added gravel on.

Clerk Cassey received a call about adding a road approach on a parcel that they will be purchasing. Supervisor Jim informed them that the Township will cost share if a culvert is needed. They will need to follow Crow Wing County standards. 

A resident, Stanek, called Supervisor Mark and asked about himself applying calcium chloride to the dirt road. Due to liability the Supervisors said “no”, in case he was to be injured or any complaints would come to the Board as other Township residents use the road. Recommended he attend the annual meeting to discuss further. 

Carrie motioned to adjourn the meeting at 08:09 p.m., Jim seconded. All were in favor, and the meeting was adjourned.
