Township Meeting Minutes – September

ST. MATHIAS TOWNSHIP

REGULAR BOARD MEETING

ST. MATHIAS PARK AND RECREATION CENTER

September 5, 2019 7 p.m.

Board Members Present: Carrie Allord, Jim Guida, Brion Fornshell, Mark Malinowski, and Cassey Veith
Attendees: Dave Keehr, Robert Morgan, Mary Cash, and Larry Sanders

The meeting was called to order by the chairman with the Pledge of Allegiance.

The August general meeting minutes were received by the Supervisors via-email. Mark motioned to approve and Carrie seconded. All were in favor, and the motion carried.

Treasurer’s report as of August 30, 2019, there was $281,424.53 in the bank, including the CD’s.

Carrie motioned to pay bills, Mark seconded. All were in favor, and the motion carried. Orders issued numbering 5441 through 5449 were unanimously approved and paid.

Supervisor Jim and Clerk Cassey received a grant request from CTC via-Facebook messenger. CTC is applying for a grant to increase broadband in our area. We were asked for a letter of support and $500. Later it was determine the area the grant covers does not include St. Mathias Township residents, however it would benefit St. Mathias Road area including local small business, St. Mathias Farm. Resident, Mary Cash, received a letter from CTC of the grant and requested St. Mathias Township support the grant. She has sent many letters to CTC in the past. Supervisor Jim will draft a letter and explain St. Mathias Township will approve the $500 at the annual Township meeting.

Fall Road review was scheduled for October 14, 2019 at 9am. Supervisors will start at 6179 Corner Trail, Fort Ripley.

Old Business:

Two voted against mail ballot for the upcoming election year and there was one none vote. Reasons being if residents want to vote before Election Day they can still do so at Crow Wing County. Also, possibility of mail voting fraud.

Dave and Jim will go check the ruts at Frank Miles neighbor driveway.

New Business:

Discussion of wage resolution was brought up. Meeting, Salary, and hourly. The board will gather information from other Townships.

The St. Mathias Township did not spray this year. Supervisors will collect information on the fall road review and will discuss spraying the Township next year with Carr’s Tree Service.

Carrie motioned to adjourn the meeting at 8:12 p.m., Mark seconded. All were in favor, and meeting was adjourned.
