Township Meeting Minutes – November 2023

ST. MATHIAS TOWNSHIP

REGULAR BOARD MEETING

ST. MATHIAS PARK AND RECREATION CENTER

November 6, 2023 7 p.m.

Board Members Present:Jim Guida, Mark Malinowski, Brion Fornshell, and Cassey Veith
Attendees:Robert Morgan and Dave Keehr
Remote:Carrie Allord

The meeting was called to order by the chairman with the Pledge of Allegiance.

General minutes for October minutes were provided in google docs. Carrie motioned to approve minutes; Jim seconded. All were in favor, and the motion carried. 

Treasurer’s report as of October 31, 2023, there was $466,952.13 in the bank, including the CD’s. Claims were provided in google docs and copies to sign during the meeting. The claims received by the Supervisors as the following: Dave Keehr- road maintenance; Carr’s Tree- ditch cleanup; Nelson Sanitation- winterize porta potty; with additional Sanders Construction- class 5; and Lowell Johnson- gophers . Carrie motioned to approve claims; Jim seconded. All were in favor, and the motion carried. 

Jim motioned to approve resolution for joint powers with the prosecuting attorney, Mark seconded. All were in favor and motion carried. 

Dave Keehr’s rate has increased due to the constant increase of fuel. 

Starting at the St. Mathias Park and Rec the fall road review is scheduled for November 21, 2023 at 10am.

Fort Ripley Township resident,. Kristi Wikstrom, attended to discuss their plans to have an events venue on their property called Haycreek Silos. She asked if the board had any concerns due to St. Mathias township and Fort Ripley share the road. All parking will be on the property and will not be allowed on the road. 

Carr Tree services are brushing and cutting the ditches weekly. Dave Keehr said they have been doing a good job. Resident Rober Morgan has concerns of some areas’ line of sight still and they’re going too far on to residents property. Robert also was disappointed we did not have maps available on the website. Clerk reminded the board we are still working on getting a new host and having trouble. 

There is a statute where the Township board occurs annual leave. Treasurer is researching what is needed and how it is tracked properly. He requested we purchase Quickbooks payroll for approximately $45 per month to help manage the annual leave. Jim motioned to purchase Quickbooks payroll, Mark seconded.  All were in favor, and the motion carried.

Mark motioned to adjourn the meeting at 07:53 p.m, Jim seconded. All were in favor, and the meeting was adjourned.
