Special Meeting, Discuss 50th Ave Bid Specs
September 21, 2016, 7 p.m.
The meeting was called to order by the Chairman. All board members were present.
Supervisors points in the bidding specs that should change or be redefined. A response was received from Rob Hall, County Engineer, with recommendations for the bid.
There was discussion on the geo grid and geo fabric use on the road.
There was discussion concerning bidding on the ditching. Board determined that it should be a separate item for bidding along with the culverts. The board will talk to contractor who is approved.
There was discussion on the mucking process and how far it would be dug out. It was shown that it would be one and a half feet.
There was discussion on the reclaiming process.
There was discussion concerning one driveway for field work that will have to be addressed.
The contractor will have to take care of the traffic flow.
Phase 1, the reclaiming, fabric work, and mucking would be done this year. Phase 2 would be the paving, being completed in 2017.
Changes agreed to be made by the board in the bid are:
- Two year warranty.
- Add township clerk address.
- Per recommendation from Rob Hall, apply 2” Class 5 this fall with reclamation process in Phase 1, and apply additional 2” class 5 in spring for Phase 2. If needed, additional Class 5 would be added in the spring to meet the 4” recommended Class 5 layer for Phase 2.
- Per recommendation from Rob Hall and Dave Schultz, add Geo Grid this fall during Phase 1 as part of the process to rebuild and stabilize the subgrade on the southern part of the road where the alligator cracking occurs, about 800 lineal feet. More Geo Grid may be needed if additional problem areas are discovered once work begins. The type of Geo Grid recommended was called TriX 140, but there may be something better.
The date was set for the opening of the bids. It will be October 12 at 6:30 p.m. at the St. Mathias Park Recreation Center. Notice will be published in the Morrison County Record and required posting places in the township as of Sunday, September 25.
The board also recommended sending an e-mail of the bid the potential interested parties,
Anderson Brothers Construction, Knife River Construction, and Tri-City Construction.
Carrie motioned to adjourn. Becky seconded. Motion was unanimously approved. Meeting adjourned at 8 p.m.
